Q: Is there food and drinks at the dive base?
Q: I do not speak any foreign language is it still possible for me to participate in a diving course? A: Yes, at Seadream Divers International we do as much as we can to make your studying as comfortable as possible. For 2008 we provide all dive briefings and courses in the following languages; English-French-German-Dutch-Czech-Polish-Korean-Russian-Spanish-Italian and of course the Greek language. Please contact us in advance to insure that all course materials are available in your own language.
Q: What diving equipment is available for rent to certified divers? A: All Seadream Divers International prices for dives include a guide, tanks and weights. The regulators we rent are Aqualung balanced first stages, second stage, octopus and submersible pressure gauge. BCD's are available in all sizes. Our tanks are 6, 12, or 15 liters steel with DIN connection, single and twin valve available (adaptors are available for Int-connection). Our rental suits are 5mm one and/or two piece with long-john and with or without hood. Fins available for rent in all sizes. We have a wide variation of masks in stock to guarantee a perfect fit for everybody.
Q: What if I'm just snorkeling? A: At Seadream Divers International there is no such thing as "just" snorkeling. For us snorkeling is an exciting activity that anyone can do! As a snorkeler you receive from us the same high standard of instruction and equipment as our first-time and certified divers.
Q: I am interested in water temperatures for Crete in the summer, I am considering a trip but to date I only dive warm water? A: The water temperature here in the summer (May to September) is between 20 and 27 Celcius and this can drop during the winter months to 15 or 17 Celcius. We can dive here all year round in 5 mm and 7 mm wetsuits with hoods.
Q: Are the books included in the course fees? A: Books are not included in the course fees. We do not include the cost of books in our programs because we find that many candidates already have some or all of the required books. Course materials are available at reduced prices, contact us for a detailed offer.
Q: Are the PADI application processing fees included in the course fees? A: Yes, the PADI application processing fees are included in the cost of our courses. There are some schools who don’t do this and charge extra higher fees at the end of each course, as you can understand for your self, this is not in your best interests.
Q: What dive equipment do I need to bring with me when taking courses at Seadream Divers International? A; It is best to bring all your own personal equipment, other than tanks and weights. If you are used to wearing ankle weights to trim your position underwater, please bring these with you. The items which people usually forget include, a snorkel, dive knife and whistle (or other signaling device). You are required to have all these items when taking PADI dive courses except for the Discover Programs and the PADI Open Water Diver Course (all equipment included in the course fees). Of course if you mind the carrying and traveling around we have a complete range of equipment for rent at very good rates. If you decide to purchase any new diving equipment while you are taking courses at Seadream Divers International, you will be entitled to a discount of up to 30% on selected manufactures equipment.
Q: Do I need to have a medical examination by a doctor before I come to Crete? A: This depends on which courses you are taking and on your personal medical history. When you register for a course or series of courses with Seadream Divers International you will be sent a confirmation pack which will include a PADI Medical Form. You need to fill out the front side of this form and answer YES or NO to the questions regarding your medical history. Please answer these questions as honestly as you can. If you are only taking the PADI Advanced Open Water or Rescue Diver Courses and you answer NO to all of the questions on the form, it is not necessary for you to have a medical examination by a doctor. If you answer YES to any of the questions, it will be necessary for you to have an examination by a doctor. The doctor will fill out the back of the form and give his opinion on whether you are medically fit to dive. If you are taking the PADI Divemaster you MUST have a medical examination by a doctor, even if you answer NO to all of the questions. Please try to arrange a medical exam in your own area prior to coming to Crete to avoid the inconvenience and expense of having one done here. If you are unable to see a doctor before you come here, we can arrange for your medical examination to be done by a local doctor at a cost of about 80,00 Euro.
Q: Do I have to pay all my course fees in advance? A: No. Depending on the course, we only require you to pay a deposit of 100.00 Euro in advance when signing up for some programs. The balance of your course fees is then due when you arrive at Seadream Divers International. If for some reason you can not attend the program you for which you have registered, you can receive a refund of your deposit up to 14 days prior to the start of the course. If you cancel less than 14 days before the course begins we will credit your deposit to the cost of taking your course with us at a future date.
Q: Do I have to bring the certification cards for all the previous diving courses I have taken? A: Yes. We need to see evidence of your previous training and this is especially important if you are taking the Divemaster course or the IDC. On the PADI application form for the Divemaster course you are required to provide information about your Advanced and Rescue diver certifications. If you took these courses with PADI, all you are required to do is fill in the information from your certification cards. However, if you took equivalent courses through another training agency (for example, SSI, NAUI, NASDS, BSAC, CMAS), you are also required to submit copies of these certifications to PADI along with your application form. If you have lost or misplaced one of your PADI certification cards it will be easy for us to verify the information by calling PADI. However, if you have lost or misplaced a card from another training agency you should contact them yourself and ask them to provide you with evidence of the training you took through them. A letter or FAX from them confirming your certification will be sufficient to meet our requirements. If you are coming from another country, it is very important to resolve problems with your certification cards before you get here. Once you arrive in Crete it may be difficult to contact the relevant agency in your country. If you have any questions regarding problems with your certification cards, please contact us for advice.
Q: Do I have to show you a logbook documenting my previous experience? A: Yes. When taking courses at Seadream Divers International, it is important for you to be able to show proof of your previous dive experience. The prerequisite number of logged dives required for each course is different. Entry to the Divemaster program requires previous experience of 20 logged dives, while 60 logged dives are required for certification as a Divemaster. While entry to the Divemaster course only requires 20 logged dives, in order to complete the course at Seadream Divers International, you really need to have made about 55 dives, as only an 5 additional dives will be completed as part of the course. Otherwise you will have to wait until you have made 60 dives before you can submit your Divemaster application to PADI.
If you have any other question, please contact us. We are happy to provide you with all the information requested.
