Skindiver course

The PADI Skin Diver Course is a simple training program for those interested in exploring the underwater world in Crete using skin diving equipment. The course is intended to be introduced and to create interest in the underwater environment.

Skin Diving can be described as "Breath Hold Diving". Using masks, snorkels, fins and buoyancy-control devices (BCD's) Skin Divers both snorkel on the surface and regularly dive underwater. The PADI Skin Diver Course is a simple, structured, training program. In the theory part of the course, Skin Diver students learn about equipment, diving science, the environment, problem management and safe skin diving practices. Knowledge development covers information on equipment, entering the water, checking buoyancy, surface swimming, snorkel clearing and performing surface dives. In the water training part of the course, Skin Diver students learn and practice safe skin diving techniques. You will master skills such as snorkel blast clearing, removing and replacing a weight belt, hand signals & swimming under water.

The next step after snorkeling… the last step before scuba diving…

Overview: It is important to have the knowledge and skills to truly enjoy swimming on the surface with a snorkel (snorkelling) and diving below the surface without scuba - the sport of skin diving. The whole family can get more out of the underwater world once they learn how to properly use a mask, fins, and snorkel. Introduction of techniques to dive below the surface to enjoy to the beauty of the sea in shallow water and to explore the marine life on Crete.

Knowledge: In the confined water session we focus on the immediate needs of skin divers such as equipment adjustment, equalizing pressure, breathing, surface diving, moving through the water and orientation.

Skills: You'll practice in a confined water session. Skills you will learn include:

· Proper Equipment Selection and fitting

· The easiest ways to enter and exit the water

· Getting water out of your mask or mask clearing

· How to clear your snorkel

· Surface Dive Techniques for skin diving

· Kicking Techniques

· Equalizing Techniques

· Duration: 1 day (one skin dive)
